Rummelsburg has been my home district for 17 years. It is bisected by railway tracks and characterized by the Klingenberg power plant and the industrial wasteland of the former gasworks. The district is known for the former prison, the bay of the same name, the ACETA works, and the Funkhaus on Nalepastraße. The Kaskelkiez has been completely renovated and outwardly differs little from other more well-known old building districts in Berlin. Entire new residential areas with single-family homes are being built on unused land, for example, at Rummelsburger Bucht or in Lichtenhain.
