2017 Bucht – documentary photography: photo series and photo story, photos by Andreas Muhs

Bucht, Berlin-Rummelsburg and Friedrichshain, 2017, 27 photos, digital

The Rummelsburger Bucht (Rummelsburg Bucht) is a dead arm of the Spree river and stretches between the Rummelsburger Ufer (Rummelsburg Embankment) in the north and the Stralau peninsula in the south. Until the fall of the Berlin Wall, the glassworks stood on the undeveloped land, of which the machine locksmithery and the bottle tower are still preserved today. Scenes from the DEFA classic "Die Legende von Paul und Paula" (The Legend of Paul and Paula) were filmed on the western bank, after which the embankment was later named. The club "Rummelsbucht" is located there, which, with the adjacent residential and commercial buildings, extends to the main road. Before all open spaces are developed, this series documents their temporary use.
