2010 Cité Foch – documentary photography: photo series and photo story, photos by Andreas Muhs
Cité Foch, Berlin-Wittenau, 2010, 56 photos, digital
The Cité Foch was the residential area for the French Allied forces in Berlin's Wittenau district. The shopping center, with its swimming pool and Catholic church, is a unique architectural testament from 1970s Berlin. Its playful design language and exaggerated color scheme clearly point to its period of origin. Coincidentally, the autumnal colors of the vegetation harmonized beautifully with the facade colors. Unfortunately, Cité Foch was so remote and hidden that it received little public attention. After the withdrawal of the armed forces, the complex was left to decay and was demolished in 2016.
