2000 Architektur 2000 – documentary photography: photo series and photo story, photos by Andreas Muhs
Architektur 2000, Berlin, 2000, 57 photos, analogue
The tenth year after the fall of the Wall coincides with the beginning of the new millennium. It is time to get an overview of what has been achieved in Berlin so far. The city and its revitalization through new construction and renovation are a central topic in the media and are extensively discussed. For the first time, I use the twin-lens Yashica medium format camera with a square image format and color negative film – a rather antiquated technique for a topic of the new millennium. The camera hangs from a strap in front of the belly. The image section can be controlled from above and thus relatively inconspicuously on the ground glass screen in the waist-level finder. This indirect view allows for perspectives and shots of people that cannot be achieved with SLR cameras.
